Level 257 New Pac-Man Video Game Theme Restaurant Set to Open at Woodfield Mall Early 2015

Level 257, a 40,000 square-foot video game-themed restaurant with an entertainment center and bowling lanes is scheduled to open in January 2015 next to the Sears store at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.
Level 257 is a prototype concept by Wood Dale-based Namco Entertainment, Inc., which is affiliated with the makers of Pac-Man, and is partnered with AMC Theatre, where Namco supplies games and service to theaters in the Northeast United States and areas of the Midwest. Namco also has opened two game rooms & installed many midway-type games at Mall of America® in Minneapolis, Minnesota after a substantial remodel within Nickelodeon Universe® Amusement Park.  Game operations includes; video, redemption, kiddie rides, merchandisers, photo booths and midway games which offer amusement to the 40 Million shoppers that visit the mall annually.

The new restaurant prototype uses a name that refers to the iconic Pac-Man video game, which will celebrate its 35th birthday at the new Woodfield Level 257 restaurant site on May 2, 2015.

Pac-Man originally featured 255 levels of play. Level 256 was a special level above that. Now the restaurant will represent another level beyond. Level 257 will have an exterior entrance, and will not be connected to the interior mall or Sears.

Schaumburg trustees Tuesday approved plans for the facade of the restaurant, which will be located on the upper level of Woodfield, next to Sears -- occupying a former Sears warehouse space.

"Schaumburg has been really good to us," Bishop said. "It took us a year to find the right site. We knew we wanted to be in the Chicago area. Nothing really sparked us until we found this spot at Woodfield."

When the restaurant opens, its bowling lanes will be the only ones in Schaumburg.
